There are several students in room 313 this fall who are reading great books. We have talked in our class about inviting other students from around the world to share in an online literature circle. So this is your official invitation to join us: You're invited to share with us your thoughts about books and in return, we will share our thoughts about books with you.
We will post some of the titles we are reading later this week and you can tell us some of the things you are reading too.

Greetings Students in Mr. Brandow's class. This is Mrs. Siporin. I'm a 3rd grade teacher in Eugene, Oregon! I'm hoping our classes can blog to one another this year. You can post to our blog. I've even made a category just for you guys called "Mr. Brandow's Class" He can help you learn how to post an entry to our blog. Your blog is much easier to post to. That's great for us! Then again, you guys are 4th graders & can handle a little more complexity, right?
As for books, we're reading the 5 Patricia Gallagher Award books for 2005. We started with "Wait!, No Paint!" by Bruce Whatley. It's a "Three Little Pigs" fractured fairy tale. Very funny & very short. One of my reading groups will be starting "The Big Wave" by Pearl Buck. It's a story about a small Japanese island which gets hit by a tsunami. It also has an active volcano on the island. One of the main characters lives in a fishing village by the sea and the other lives up on the mountain. It's a story about being not letting fear get the best of you and to live life fully each day.
I'll have my students share some of their favorite books with you in the next few weeks.
