Mr. Brandow had the privilege to spend an "Unfortunate" evening at Shadow Studios with A Series of Unfortunate Events author Lemony Snicket as he unveiled his 12th book in the series, The Penultimate Peril. Mr. Snicket was absolutely "awful" as he spoke to our small audience in New York City. His appearance was broadcast to 15 cities across America, so thousands of fans, children and adults alike, were able to enjoy his "inexplicable" entertainment. Even though Mr. Snicket spoke to thousands of people...maybe millions if the broadcast was "illegally intercepted", he was still able to take a few short minutes to have an interview with Mr. Brandow. The interview went like this:
Mr. Brandow: Why did you choose to tell the story of the Baudelaire children, instead of someone else?
Mr. Snicket: Nobody else would do such a dismal task.
Mr. Brandow: Your use of vocabulary is great. What is your purpose of using "9 point words" in this level of literature?
Mr. Snicket: "9 point words" is a phrase unfamiliar to my vocabulary. How many points can there be in a word?
Mr. Brandow: Who are your favorite children and young adult authors?
Mr. Snicket: Zilpha Keatley Snyder, Taro Gomi, Adele Griffin, Louis Sachar, Roald Dahl, Edward Gorey and Dino Buzzati.
(as a joke)
Mr. Brandow: Why didn't you mention Violet in The Goblet of Fire?
Mr. Snicket: The idea of a "goblet of fire" frightens me.
I have to say, this was the most "Unfortunate" evening I have had in a long time...and I would do it again in the absence of a heart beat. You may view Lemony Snicket's web site here...if you dare.

Fun to read your "review" of Lemoney Snicket!! How was the evening with him?

Hey Zoe,
Thanks for coming by. Have you been reading the Series of Unfortunate Events? They're "dreadful" book so get through, just "painful".
